I feel like I have been housebound for far too long.
This spring has brought sickness to my household, coming on the winds of each chinook. Despite its persistence, I am feeling much better and I am grateful for the strength of my physical body and the bodies of my loved ones for seeing us through. Today, I plan to make a pot of chicken noodle soup that will (hopefully) wash away the last of the illness.
I have been progressing on some projects (albeit slower than anticipated).
On the loom: I have a huck lace with a black cotton warp and a vintage (from the 1970s) metallic, bouclée viscose weft. Held taunt by the loom, the structure of the cloth is difficult to discern. Once washed the texture should emerge beautifully. I am expecting the cotton to shrink less than the viscose; the results will be an interesting surprise!
The handspun is really adding up! I can't tell you the exact breed of this mystery wool, but it is long and lustrous like a BFL (bluefaced leicester) and of medium courseness. It is a joy to work with and brings me much calm on turbulent days.
Lastly, please allow me to introduce the newest member of my household: Laura the english angora. She's sweet and often sassy. She hates getting her feet brushed and will often thump in disapproval afterwards. She loves tasty snacks (especially parsley, lettuce, and her pellets). The kids and I love watching her do binkies and zoomies around the room.

I have been researching angora rabbits for a few years now, so it was no surprise to me the amount of care and attention she required. The...output...let's say, in her litter box, DID come as a surprise. I had no idea such a small miss could produce so much!
The things you learn...!
